Many people misinterpreted The Matrix trilogy. It was not about rebels fighting against a controlled high security simulation.

It was about Neo being tricked into thinking he was fighting against the system with controlled opposition.

The Architect built Zion just as he built the Matrix. The Matrix was a simulation within another simulation.

The Archetict pre-orchestrated the “saviour” prophecy to trick those who woke up from the Matrix into thinking they were destroying it so they’d get stuck in it.

The Oracle was a program designed to study the human psyche in order to perfect the Matrix to prevent future anomalies from disrupting the system.

She discovered that humans were naturally rebellious and craved the freedom of choice.

That rebelliousness is what pushed The Architect into designing a highly advanced Matrix which gave human beings the illusion of choice.

They could either choose to live within the Matrix or Zion, but here’s the thing, both the Matrix and Zion city were created by the Architect.

The illusion of choice was the main incentive of The Matrix.

We get tricked into thinking we’re fighting for freedom by choose sides with controlled opposition.

After all, the best way to make someone a slave is to trick them into thinking they are free.

The Matrix and The Hunger Games had the same plot.

Katniss thought she was destroying the system only to discover that she was furthering it. Neo thought he was destroying the Matrix only to find out that he was reloading it by canceling out the REAL anomaly; Agent Smith.

The Merovingian had been through multiple “saviours” in the past given that he was one of the oldest programs in the Matrix and lived through previous versions of the Matrix.

He knew Neo was getting played by The Oracle, it was Neo who didn’t realize it.

The Matrix is exactly what democracy is. It’s the illusion of choice. You choose between two candidates which perpetuates “freedom of choice”.

You are free to choose who to be enslaved by, since they both operate within the system but you’re the furthest thing from free.

Freedom simply does not exist within the Matrix. The only way to be free is outside of the Matrix. The Matrix can trick you into thinking you’ve gotten your freedom, when you’re really still under control just under looser terms.
