During the construction works for the Eastern Cloisters Project, the contractors uncovered many items that helped us to understand life in the cloisters. One of the most interesting finds were the newspapers and magazines found in the roof space of No. 12 & 14. (1/3)
These publications gave us an insight as to the interests of the former residents as the subjects ranged from music to cycling and even cats! We also found many copies suffrage magazine, Common Cause which was delivered to the Duncombe household. (2/3)
Our archivist has been very busy processing all of these discoveries but here are just a few images of our favourites as we found them! (3/3)
