I know it's easy to write off stuff like this. People leaving CA. But understand this: they don't want to go. To love your home state so much, but essentially get pushed out because of terrible policies is so sad. https://twitter.com/RobSchneider/status/1336707811359657987
I grew up in CA. I've lived in WI, DC, VA, and then back to AZ. California is always going to be "home". I moved back to AZ to be close to my family here, but also to be close to CA again.
California is GORGEOUS. The beaches, the mountains, the perfect weather, the food, the culture. But the policies are openly hostile to the residents of the state. Policies matter. Politicians matter. And bad politicians and their bad policies has ruined my home state.
I give tons of credit to those who are staying and fighting to make things better. It's an uphill battle, and I think this pandemic has opened the eyes of a lot of Californians who didn't see WHO was ruining their state.
I don't think the fight to save California is hopeless, but I also don't blame people for leaving. It's really, really sad. And my heart is with those fighting the good fight to save California. She's worth fighting for.
