Nobume is a character i often see both praise and slander for. While she isnt for everyone, i think she is one of the best Gintama characters. She has some really great dynamics, has a tragic backstory and develops so well throughout serious arcs.

***Spoilers up until SS***

Her dynamic with Isaburo is among one of the best Gintama dynamics out there. Their tragic backstory together along with Isaburo losing his family and Nobume failing to save them broke my heart. Up until this point Nobume was presented as a ruthless sadist who would just get-

-the job done but this presented her in a new light: Someone who feels insecure and weak for being unable to protect anything. She often hides her true feelings but deep down really cares about the people around her (present through her relationships with Isaburo, Gintoki and-

-Kagura).

Her development in FS was one of my favourite parts about the arc. Seeing her change from that ruthless sadist who just does what others tell her to, to someone who just wants to protect the things she cares about and becomes more independent was beautiful to see.-

-Seeing her cry and mourn over what happened to Isaburo at the end of FS really hit me in the feels. For most of their time together she felt so guilty for not being able to save his family, and just did what he wanted but she really cared for him. He was like a father to her-

-and it broke her heart remembering that she was told to be the one to kill him, especially after building that father-daughter relationship together.

Seeing a complete change of character in Nobume after FS was amazing. She'd come so far after the events of FS and even goes-

-to the point of attempting to sacrificing herself to protect Gintoki. All of these emotions she has probably stems from the lessons she got from Shoyo, who's the indirect cause of her attempting to save Isaburo's family and thus starting that relationship between them.

This concludes my thread on Nobume's character. Im quite new to these type of tweets but i hope you all enjoyed what i've attempted to write. Nobume is a fantastic character and is easily one of my favourite characters of all time.
