In my newsroom experience, the folks who lob vile, misogynistic attacks against women journalists have tended to be those affiliated with far-right groups or ideologies. Apparently, there are exceptions.
Reporters take heat for their work, sometimes the work of their peers. Ppl question news stories, they pick them apart, they get outraged by them—as they should. Calling a woman (who didn't even write the story) a cunt? I dunno, man. And the 13 ppl who liked this comment?
Not to mention there's already been two local journalists who say they were assaulted while attempting to do basic, shoe leather reporting around an important story that's captured the attention of North Portland, our entire town and also the rest of the country for that matter.
As for the story in question: How many people until this week knew this tale of a Black family fighting for their home & the uprising to protect it also involves a tragic killing, sovereign citizen plot twist and a tangled legal web. Is such detail/complicated history irrelevant?
