This NYT post today on Biden facing pressure to pick Deb Haaland for Interior Sec cites anonymous "Biden advisers" saying she lacks experience. Third time NYT has done this + it's infuriating tribal leaders who say it's insulting and sexist. Why do this? https://www.nytimes.com/live/2020/12/10/us/joe-biden-trump/biden-faces-rising-pressure-to-pick-representative-deb-haaland-for-interior-secretary
Dozens of tribes, not to mention prominent Native folks + progressive groups, are strongly supporting Deb Haaland for Interior Sec.

I am hearing from some on the regular who are very confused and angry by these anonymous slights against Haaland by people in Biden's orbit.
Here's one of them.

“He promised he would listen to Indian Country,” Melanie Benjamin, chief executive of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, said of Biden. This historic opp to nominate Haaland "should not be overtaken by anonymous voices that insult both women and Indian Country.”
Also, let's talk "experience" needed for high-level/cabinet appts.

Susan Rice for WH Domestic Policy Council?
Denis McDonough for VA?

Smart, accomplished people? Yes. Do they have backgrounds in these areas? No.
Haaland, meanwhile, chairs the House subcommittee on natl parks, forests and public lands. She co-chairs the Native American caucus. She has Dems and GOP lawmakers backing her for this job.

Not to mention the 150 tribal leaders who wrote to Biden: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/deb-haaland-biden-interior-secretary_n_5fce4d83c5b63a153453c32e
