How do we solve the celebrity pastor problem? This @CTmagazine says we need to "ensure their pastors are accessible and accountable."

But the cycle won't stop if we only focus on personal moral choices instead of looking at the *physical structure* of American churches. (thread) https://twitter.com/TKrattenmaker/status/1337066692615286791
One of these is Hillsong NYC and one is from Coachella. Forget who's on the stage, the structure makes celebrity possible.
How does a microphone create celebrity pastors?
How do spotlights create celebrity pastors?
How do giant screens create celebrity pastors?
How does an elevated stage create celebrity pastors?
When we use these tools, we import the *values* of these tools. This is not necessarily bad—we love concerts.

What's not good is responding with Scripture, ignoring the values embedded in sanctuaries, and wondering why the cycle continues when we put someone on the stage again.
