Ever since COVID became A Big Thing, my workplace has gone off the rails on resilience and positivity. Its gotten to the point where I find it completely toxic. No acknowledgement of the difficulties, no acceptance that this is a
nightmare for a lot of people. No understanding of the issues its causing by senior managers. Just this endless stream of "we're a great organisation" and "wellbeing is important so why not go for a run" (not saying that's not a valid and helpful comment by any means but what t
the people who can't because they're physically incapable or it's unsafe) and "we are all doing fine working remotely so why would we ever go back" ignoring the fact that about 10% of the workforce are still in offices and a good number of them are the reason everyone else CAN
work remotely. And its just ramped up with a lot of the rent-a-phrase shit that I suspect comes from the back of a Google search on wellbeing. Everything I read it it just completely alienates me- its as if they think that mental health can be overcome with positive mantras
and a healthy diet!
But then I saw this go up on our intranet.
And I've FUCKING HAD IT!

I am sick to death of the blase approach that these people seem to have to this problem. They're clearly not actually interested in mental health and are just using LinkedIn
to pick up ideas on flashy business trends. And its so depressing and degrading to those of us with serious MH issues as we're told we just need to be positive. This is toxic, offensive and quite frankly I'm fed up of constantly feeling attacked because I'm not smiling and saying
yay to COVID and what its done for the workplace!
I know that this is useful for some people. But my employer thinks that this works for everyone. And it doesn't. And I can't be the only one who thinks that this ignores some fundamental facts about this year.

A lot of people have lost friends and family this year. Millions more face total destitution, poverty and years of hardship. The mental health of countless people has been crippled, and for MH patients the impact is catastrophic for many in one form or another. And this just
trivialised it to the nth degree. And this is just one post.
I can't stay at this place if this is what I'm going to be subjected to day in and day out. I'd rather work somewhere actually fucking tuned into reality and actually considers doing some research into mental health.

To be fair, there have been some really good ideas from my workplace on COVID wellbeing- letting people WFH, reducing hours people needed to work for family reasons, half day leave for wellbeing for everyone. But on this issue I feel like I'm banging my head against a wall.
@MadCovid - I'd appreciate your help in getting thoughts on this and if I am an island on this issue. Is it just me? Am I getting this wrong or do we need to call out this as an example of toxic positivity?

of mindset and attitude. (Never mind all of the real repercussions of COVID for people which I swear we seem to have ignored at our workplace!)
