As of today, India's death toll to the coronavirus stands at 1.5 lakh which is 10% of the global death toll. Inspite of there being a lockdown in a number of states across the country, cases are still rising on a daily basis.
But the experienced management of educational institutes such as NMIMS seem oblivious to the fact that we are living in a world with a pandemic which has taken the lives of many near and dear ones.
With the claustrophobic and stressful environment of staying indoors all day to waking up at 7a.m in the mornings to stare at a laptop screen for the next 4 hours, the college has decided that the pressure being put on the students is not enough
And that they should appear for external exams pertaining to subjects that students finished learning 3 months ago. As of this date, the students of NMIMS have finished 2 weeks of learning 6 new subjects
but the college feels that students should be giving exams for subjects that were last taught 3 months ago. Moreover, they expect their students to sit for 3 hours in front of a laptop without moving and being disturbed by siblings/parents/grandparents
and any living or nonliving entities just to give a 50 mark paper. The alternative they give their students is for them to risk their lives and come to give 6 papers offline at their campuses across India.
Even after various solutions being put forward by students themselves the college believes they are the best when it comes to making decisions for students' future. The management is hell-bent that students do not deserve to pass to the next semester without appearing for a test.
