Khal!stan is not a viable idea because:

Khal!stanis talk of only Khalsa Raj, but what about non Khalsa Sikhs and people who are not Sikhs? What about their equal rights and representation?
Punjab, where Khal!stanis want to make Khal!stan is a lower riparian state, it has no minerals, no natural resources, no forest cover, no mountains or own sources of water, no tourism scope.
So how will it sustain itself? Only agriculture alone cannot sustain a country if it has no other resources.
How will a small Khal!stan survive between two much bigger nuclear powered countries like India and Pakistan?
Please see Nepal that is sandwiched between India and China and has all world powers interfering in its internal matters and its people travel elsewhere for work and even one blockade from other countries like India makes it tough for them.
Can Khal!stan manage itself sandwiched between India and Pakistan as a small LAND LOCKED country with no natural resources, mineral wealth or forests or tourism? Think how it will survive like this!
What about Sikhs in other parts of India and Sikh gurdwaras in other parts of India? Today Sikhs lament 1947 partition and inability to freely access gurdwaras in Pakistan.
Do Sikhs want to create another partition and require passport, visa to go to historical gurdwaras like Sis Ganj, Rakab Ganj, Hazoor Sahib, Patna Sahib? Today any Sikh in India can freely access gurdwaras in Punjab and other states of India.
Take a bus or train or plane and there you go. Do you want restrictions for gurdwaras like Pakistan and wait for visas and passport?
Sikhs of Punjab have relatives, businesses, properties in other states of India also. I am sure they would not want another partition or lose it all or have their relatives uprooted like 1947.
Sikhs of other states of India also have relatives, professional and trade connections in Punjab and would not like to complicate it with another partition.
Almost half of Punjab population is non Sikh and has various communities, where will they go?
Have they ever agreed for Khal!stan? What about Hindus, Muslims, Ravidassias, Valmikis, Namdharis, Christians and other communities of Punjab? Have they ever agreed to live in Khal!stan and separate from secular India?
Many deras, preachers, sampardas, atheists, Communists etc still have conflicts even within Punjab. How will Khalistan handle such differences and make peace?
When most Sikhs still live, work, study and do business in India and are well represented in Govt jobs, army, police, administration in India then what is need for Khal!stan?
When Sikhs are one of most prosperous communities in India and have all rights here and a Sikh PM was one of longest serving PMs in history of independent India, then what is need for Khal!stan? India has had Sikhs in all top positions.
Are Sikhs ready to live in a theocratic state and forego freedoms, liberty of belief and lifestyle in a secular state?
This idea of a separate nation is nothing but a propaganda run by many NRIs who when asked that would they move back to punjab if it is made a separate nation would answer with a immediate NO.
