This is the first of two reviews into 2,000 cases of maternity care, which will be the largest clinical review into a single service in NHS history
The review found a "lack of kindness" and "compassion" across the trust's midwifery service
In one example "A woman was in agony but told that it was ‘nothing’; staff were dismissive and made her feel ‘pathetic’. This was further compounded by the obstetrician using flippant and abrupt language and calling her ‘lazy’ at one point."
Another woman was "left screaming for hours before it was
identified that there were problems that needed intervention."
