once he sits down to really meditate, xichen gets his spiritual power back and draws shuoyue in the matter of hours. in the course of a rainstorm. it's the beginning of daylight when lqr and co rush into the courtyard.
all of which is to say: we think of the yiling year, when lan wangji going to visit wei wuxian in the burial mounds despite knowing he was guilty of demonic cultivation, then returning to CR to kneel in the snow with the punishment cane, presumably after having been beaten w/it.
i'm thinking about lan xichen going to visit jin guangyao in carp tower despite knowing he was guilty of the murder of their sworn brother and therefore accepting the punishment of having his cultivation being sealed because he trusted.
of being comprehensively betrayed because he loved so completely.
