The current lack of COVID relief in the US should be a wake up call regarding systems that deny equality of opportunity. All that racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, etc? It's just the group easiest to squash at that moment and still get the evangelical vote.
I mean, government didn't give a damn about opioid addicted poor whites in Kentucky either. In fact, they used the collective suffering to stoke a culture war between different groups of people who were hurting, knowing people struggle to see outside their own experience.
Instead of focusing on basic standards of living, the left has demonized billionaires. Instead of truly following Christ's teachings, the right has turned faith into expressions of bigotry. They don't wonder why sane people are cynical.
Until the US accepts that it has massive portions of the population suffering from intergenerational trauma, and no identity group OWNS that, it's going to continue to spiral. Trump was a symptom. Not the disease. US' problem is that people fear their neighbors.
