So Canada has purchased 40M confirmed #COVID19 #vaccines as of now if one excludes unexercised options. I have excluded @AstraZeneca at this point b/c it is not clear to me whether Canada will follow UK or US given issues that arose in its Phase III clinical trial.

The actually confirmed 40M Canadian doses would cover 20M people but we don’t have a lot of clarity (yet?) about the timing of those deliveries through 2021. Even if options are exercised, it’s not clear that delivery would match the gov’t immunization plan.

While the Canadian gov’t has (successfully) shifted media focus to a large number of #COVID19 #vaccine purchases in excess of 400M, the real number is a fraction of that.
