The @NSClearinghouse’s HS Benchmarks report is out today w/ a special Covid analysis on the class of 2020.

The results are catastrophic. Declines everywhere. Overall enrollment for c/o 2020 down 21.7% year/year. For high poverty high schools, -32.6%. https://nscresearchcenter.org/high-school-benchmarks/
The rate of decline for the class of 2020 compared to 2019 was TEN TIMES steeper than 2019 to 2018.

We knew it would be bad. None of the postsecondary indicators is good right now. But this drop in enrollment fails to find a suitable adjective to describe it.
We are hosting a webinar at @NCANetwork around the report release today at 2pm. Please join us: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/5291082360856923403

As bad as these data are, it isn’t a foregone conclusion that we’ve lost the class of 2020. Policy and practice can still reach these students. Let’s do that.
Thank you to the team at the @NSClearinghouse Research Center who got this report out *a year* ahead of schedule so we could see the results. Their work this semester has been so critical for understanding the impact on students.
