This December, Jupiter and Saturn will conjunct in a way that hasn't been seen in hundreds and hundreds of years. Astronomers and astrologers alike are calling it the Great Conjunction of 2020. On the 21st of December, the two largest planets in our solar system will appear to

almost “merge” in the night sky. What does this mean astrologically ?

A conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn happens once every 20 years (this being the closest one in hundreds of years). They will conjunct in the sign Aquarius. When it comes to Aquarius energy, one thing you can

be sure of is a big shift when it comes to the way we do things, more focus on the collective, freedom & revolution. Capricorn energy is all about predictable structure and rules, while Aquarius more unconventional. However, they are both still ruled by Saturn and need structure.

Jupiter conjunct Saturn in Aquarius also marks a shift from 200 years of Earth element dominance, to 200 years of Air element dominance. This is HUGE. There are four elements in astrology, Fire, Earth, Air and Water. When Jupiter and Saturn conjunct every 20 years, they do so in

signs that come from the same element for the next 200 years. Since 1802, Jupiter and Saturn have been conjuncting in the Earth signs (Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo). For the next 200 years, they will be conjuncting in air signs.

The energies of Saturn and Jupiter can be contradicting. Saturn is the dutiful task masker who likes structure and wants us to play by the rules. Jupiter is expansive, and abundant, Jupiter encourages us to be more, do more, ask for more, share more, etc.

Saturn energy can definitely be a downer on Jupiter’s generosity and expansiveness, or it can channel it and give it direction. They’re cojuncting in the sign Aquarius, and Aquarius is ruled by Saturn. Aquarius, is a sign associated with things like air travel, technology,

technology, innovation, and collective life (humanitarian issues).

Aquarius is also ruled by strict Saturn. This means that expansive Jupiter may be hindered by Saturn’s energy. For example, earlier this year (March) Saturn briefly went into Aquarius, and that’s when we saw

restrictions regarding travel, that’s literally when it all began ! Jupiter joining Saturn this December, may increase this energy. Things like restrictions to do with education (Jupiter rules higher learning), or travel (also associated with Jupiter).

Technology that keeps people socially distant could become even more prevalent, with more people opting for online learning and work. This intense energy is with us until Jupiter leaves the Grand Conjunction in December 2021. The silver lining is that Aquarius is associated with

the 11th House, which rules friendships, the collective, social circles and social togetherness. So there will be a sense of community and togetherness, especially when it comes to tackling social issues and bringing forth necessary changes.

People may even see their social circle/connections grow. But there will still be that Saturn restriction when it comes to actually being around your social circle (social distancing). And with Aquarius being linked to the internet, this could even mean being more social online.

On the flip side, Aquarius is a sign that loves freedom and can be quite rebellious. There may be even more people rebelling against social distancing rules, and more people wanting to travel/freedom. Even though the Saturn energy will still be restricting that next year.

That being said, jupiter is still the planet of luck, abundance and expansion. This means that we have the power to change our lives next year, and put ourselves on the path to success and abundance, especially if we work with Saturn’s energy, and give in to Aquarius’

unconventional way of doing things.

Saturn works different in Aquarius, compared to Capricorn (both Saturn ruled). Saturn in Aquarius is unconventional/different/values freedom etc, but is still structured.

We are being called to come together (collective) and create a brighter future. The new moon solar eclipse is in Sagittarius and takes place on December 14. This is a great time to manifest and set goals for the future. Remember this is a new moon in Abundant and expansive
