How did we arrive at a situation that social workers committed to an evidence-based approach to working with gender dysphoric children need to be anonymous?
Where we fear openly discussing the evidence base around child development theory as this might lead to accusations of transphobia and thus dismissal. Who wants to take that risk?
Rotherham and many other examples illustrate what happens when safeguarding discussions are shut down and the welfare of children is buried under other considerations.
We have the same situation now with gender dysphoric children. Ideological considerations are trumping holistic concerns around the welfare. An affirmation approach to children with GD is being pushed onto the profession without discussion and with slight evidence.
Keira Bell is but one child let down by such an approach. There will be many more victims unless social work regulators empower social workers to speak up and use the existing established evidence base, especially around child development theory and practice.
Silence by the regulator makes them complicit in an approach that is no longer child focused and evidence based, but rather, focussed on an adult centred post modern ideology.

This negation of core social work values calls into question whether @SocialWorkEng is fit for purpose.
