Ever wondered,

What motivates human behavior?
What humans really want?
When will the quest for more end?

All such questions are well answered by the best-known theory of motivation - "Maslow's hierarchy of needs"
Maslow's hierarchy is most often displayed as a pyramid.

There are five main levels to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.

These levels begin from the most basic needs to the most advanced needs.
#1: Physiological Needs
Physiological needs are the lowest level of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. These include things that are vital to our survival.

This includes
-Shelter
-Water
-Food

A person’s motivation at this level derives from their instinct to survive.
#2: Safety Needs
The second level includes the needs for safety and security in the society or environment.

Some of the basic security and safety needs include:
- Financial security
- Health and wellness
- Safety against unpredictable
#3: Social needs
At this level, the need for emotional relationships drives human behavior. Humans are social creatures that crave interaction with others.

Some of the things that satisfy this need include:
- Friendships
- Romantic attachments
- Family
- Social groups
#4: Self-Esteem needs
Once the above three needs are fulfilled, there arises a need for respect & status.

People need to sense that they are valued by others & feel that they are making a contribution to the world.

Up until this need, motivation is always a lack of something.
#5: Self-Actualization Needs
"What a man can be, he must be," - Maslow

The fifth and final level of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is self-actualization needs.

At this level, people strive to become the best that they possibly can be.
Growth vs. Deficiency Needs
Physiological, security, social, and esteem needs are deficiency needs, which arise due to deprivation.

Maslow termed the highest level of the pyramid as growth needs. These needs don't stem from a lack of something, but rather from a desire to grow.
As per this theory,

Analyze where you are at this stage in your life.

Take actions to move upward in the pyramid.

Very few reach the level of self-actualization, beyond the need for status or respect.

This is where all your quest will end.

All the best!
