since no one wants to explain why, here's a little thread on reasoning why being on the internet at a young age is dangerous:
1. you are EXTREMELY vulnerable to grooming, this isn't arguable. whether or not you want to believe it, young brains are so much easier to be manipulated, and if the wrong person realizes this, you will be taken advantage of.
2. you're bound to come across something gorey, triggering, or otherwise inappropriate to see if you're on the internet; it happens to literally everyone. i'll go more into it in the next tweet

pt2. in my (+ many others') experience, i saw extremely graphic gore, fresh sh pics, & porn at a young age online and grew completely desensitized to them, and was likely traumatized to an extent. none of it is a joke to mess around with

3. most people on here don't want to have ppl 13- following them. it's not because anyone wants to make you feel bad, but a lot of us may post some things about our lives that could be a bad influence on younger people, especially on priv/rant accs
pt2. not to mention, while full on nsfw stuff should be tagged, sometimes people forget to tag nsfw jokes! stuff like that can just be uncomfortable at a young age and i think most of us can agree we want you to avoid that.
4. you are NOT "mentally older" than others your age. is it possible you're generally more mature? definitely, i would even say i was. however, your brain is just as vulnerable as anyone else youre age. having a sense of maturity does not take that away.
5. and lastly, although this seems less important, you should enjoy your time being in your childhood. i know social media and growing up seem exciting, but you'll regret forcing yourself to grow up too fast once ur there. please just enjoy your childhood and wait a few years.

one last note lol - pls stop saying people are talking about ages rn because of this thread? yes, it got a lot of attention, but i made it because there was a situation on mcyttwt where there was a young person who deactivated but ppl didn't really explain to them why they should
