A thought about trigger warnings....

As someone with biazare and specific triggers, I get it. But also there is a growing culture of ppl using tw// to be passive aggressive and hostile towards people. It is really... something to put someone's user name as a trigger warning

Biggest issue i have is that using actively using a trigger word should work with someone's muted words list, so if you are concerned with someone not wanting to see tweets about a specific person or topic, just make sure your post contains it

Being like tw//USER signals to everyone that there is something inherently bad about this person, and fans the flames. Whereas just including the username in the post should work with the mute lists if ppl have them muted

I know that people who tw for users are uh, not the type to worry if they are creating a hostile environment for people, which is massively ironic, but thats the culture that is cropping up.

Also the issue i have that is the same issue I had with tumblrs trigger warnings is that I feel they -can- be over used by users and posters. It's impossible to tw for everything, so ppl who try are really paving the way for ppl to be upset when their trigger isn't warned for

Or likewise with what I said about usernames in tw, some folks with big anxiety and fawning responses have a tenacity, in my exp, to see something in a trigger warning and attach anxiety to that thing despite never having an issue with it before

This isn't me ragging on general tw for broad and typical trigger warnings, I just see how the youths are using it and how it's breeding more anxiety and in/out group and used as a means to further bully and be hostile to others

Like when someone is like "tw pedophilia...... x shippers exist" when there isn't even anything close to that in the content, it's connecting things in a way that breeds anxiety and mis information and it happens way too much

Anyways I think there is space for criticism about how trigger warnings are used on social media without it being ableism. Once again, not that I should have to disclose, but I got CPTSD and get triggered by weird shit
