And yes, I'm just going to drop that & head off to bed (which I made this morning & love myself for.)
The degree to which folks are sending up warning flares about this tweet speaks to the degree of loyaty of both Doyle & Peterson fans. Can't touch this.
And while Doyle & Peterson appear to be polar opposite, I tend to see them as male/female iterations of the same phenomenon.
ISTM that GD epitomizes female guru who doesn't adequately Q shape of modern life & instead pursues self-acutalization w/in established categories. JP is male iteration. Skewing progressive & conservative is simply gendered class traits taken to logical end w/in modernity.
This is the same phenomenon that brought us 2016 election btwn HRC & DJT. Both, in their own way, were quintessential male & female maketplace Boomers. On surface they look like opposites, but they are actually same set of sociolgical factors in different embodiments.
This doesn't mean that folks like Doyle & Peterson don't add to the conversation or call our attention to important things. In fact, they reveal very significant truths about the shape of our society & state of m/f collaboration.
But that fact that both Doyle & Peterson's audiences are overwhelmingly single-gendered (yes, I know there are outliers, bruh) suggests that their message itself is deeply gendered as well.
Again, this isn't a problem per se, but it's important factor to understanding what we're seeing. Asking "Who is the female Jordan Peterson?" misses the point that Peterson's work reflects the priorities & frame of reference that track most closely w/ male embodiment.
The female counterpart to Jordan Peterson is not simply a woman who promotes the same ideas or rhetorical categories. That's simply a woman who thinks like a man. WHICH IS ALSO NOT A PROBLEM! (And can be of great benefit to society, tbh.)
The female counterpart to Jordan Peterson is the woman whose thinking & work is as deeply shaped by her femaleness as Peterson's thinking & work is shaped by his maleness.
Again, I have no problem w/ this kind of distilled thinking, insofar as it is not presented as the whole truth. But the whole point in believing in the validity of male & female minds is that they work differently & prioritize different Qs & responses.
IN CONCLUSION... *ahem*... istm that women are drawn to Doyle b/c she shows them how to self-actualize as *women* w/in a modern context. Men are drawn to Peterson b/c he does the same for them.

And yes, I know that loyalty runs high for these two. I've already been blocked by Glennon Doyle's people so I'm not unaware that this thread w/ not sit well w/ some folks. But also, the degree to which something cannot be touched is telling.
