Before @CBCNews was outrageously politicized by the Harper Govt it was a dream come true to report there, as leader of industry standards

3/9 But the trauma of the Harper Govt has obviously led to a PTSD of sorts, with lingering symptoms that could cause this shift in thinking at @CBCNews

If LPC, NDP, GPC & Bloc wish to combat the rise of #FakeNews by predominantly right-wing sources, they must outlaw advertorials

4/9 Respectfully, the problem with Tait & @ChuckTCBC's willingness to adopt #advertorials lies at the fundamental building block of #PressFreedom

Sponsored content, paid content & all other words used to massage #FakeNews isn't FACT CHECKED or based on verified sources #CDNmedia

5/9 It's imperative for @ChuckTCBC to acknowledge that #advertorials specifically masquerade as news instead of traditional visual ads, because they purposely behave as #FakeNews in the effort to trick readers that if a journalist wrote it, even from the ad dept, it must be true

6/9 No matter what Tait & @ChuckTCBC say to reassure us, publishing #advertorials, that are specifically written to look like news articles, borrows from the hard-earned reputations of every @CBCNews journalist to advance the plight of #FakeNews & destroy faith in #CDNmedia

7/9 It doesn't matter if @CBCNews includes a "paid content" label at the top of #FakeNews advertorials

Because what they're selling to prospective advertisers is the #CBC reputation to bolster belief in anything they produce, backed by the #CDNpoli govt

8/9 If anyone claims advertorials aren't #FakeNews, then why do they have to appear like a #counterfeit news article?

We already have a problem with dark $$ & 3rd party advertisers in elections. What will @CBCNews do when those advertorials are partisan? @s_guilbeault @ChuckTCBC

9/9 Even when there isn't an elxn, advertorials are fair game to partisan interests & that means all political parties can generate #FakeNews & have it subsidized by the #CDNpoli govt

It also allows biz the opportunity to counterfeit govt backing
