Struggling with this notion that cheering the players on would give them a boost. You’ve had the Bhoys travelling to Celtic Park, Motherwell, Lennoxtown etc with banners, singing their praises for months. We’re now 13 points behind in the league and out of the League Cup and EL.
You’ve also had Green Brigade back the team with banners inside the stadium. That hasn’t worked. The fans aren’t to blame whatsoever. We want change and the protests are completely justified. Of course a minority have went OTT but emotions are running high for obvious reasons.
A small group of fans have been turning up before games for weeks now singing songs and trying to give the players a lift. Also been shouts telling the players to get a grip, letting them know who they’re supposed to be representing etc but there’s nothing wrong with that.
Stop ripping into fans who care enough to plough money into the club and want to make a difference. Stop worrying about what the other mob think - they’re already laughing at our performances on the pitch. If you want to turn up to cheer the bus in then get out and do it.
The fans have played their part. It’s up to the players, management and board to repay that faith. If they aren’t to the job then supporters have every right to let them know.
Bhoys have been supporting the team from the first whistle. Even a large police presence didn’t stop them greeting the team at Motherwell. An unreal effort. Collectively as fans we’ve put millions into the club knowing it was unlikely we’d get the chance to be inside a stadium.
The Green Brigade have also more than done their bit. Lennon is right in that we all want the same thing here - don’t direct your anger towards the same fans who support the team relentlessly.
