I cant decide if #AdvanceAustraliaCare threads are encouraging or the ultimate doomscrolling. So much #outstanding #excellent research we're missing out on #auspol
Im sick of seeing important projects and promising drug targets stifle due to a lack of funding.
Im sick of hearing "pleased they finally got funding" after years of stress and struggle and contemplating giving up and getting out.
Im tired of Australian Medical research getting praised for "punching above our weight". This comes at the loss of our sleep, health, family. This stifles creativity. We'd do better science if we didnt spend half the year writing grants and all the year worrying about them.
Imagine what we'd be capable of if medical research funding was increased from 0.7% to 3% of total health expenditure. #SaveOzScience #AdvanceAustraliaCare @TheASMR1 #auspol
