Please stop using female to describe women. I am constantly hearing people refer to men as men and women as female in the same sentence! See thread for the reasons this ain’t great. (1/4)
1. Female and male describe sex not gender. 2. Female is exclusionary of trans women. (2/4)
3. Men and women are terms used only to describe humans, female and male are terms used for any animals that have different sexes, by selectively using female only to describe women you are putting a subtle hierarchy into your language. (3/4)
4. Woman and women are wonderful words and the fact that they feel weird to you when you use them actually reinforces the fact we live in a patriarchal society. I’ve heard men say they use girls because women feels strange - reflect and ask yourself why! (4/4)
