Twen Theodros was arrested after she was found participating in an evening prayer meeting in an underground church. Twen has endured terrible beatings and torture at the hand of prison guards.

Aster Yohannes was studying in the US when her husband was imprisoned after signing a letter calling for democratic reforms. Aster was assured she could travel back to her kids safely, but was taken at the airport.

Yirgalem Fisseha Mebrahtu is one of Eritrea's most famous poets and was working at a radio station when the military raided the places and arrested 30 of the staff.

She was imprisoned without a trial in 2009 and was thankfully released 6 years later.

Ciham Ali Abdu was born in California and moved to Eritrea when her father became a government official. At the age of 15, she was arrested trying to leave the country after her father left the government.

She has been imprisoned without a trial since 2012.

Many do not understand how normal imprisonment without trials are in #Eritrea. Too many cases are still unknown because their families are too scared to speak up. It is our duty to raise their stories, the known and the unknown, and never stop fighting for their release.
