I used to support the ‘Nordic model’.
But I’ve listened to sex workers' & understand many don’t think it will help or prevent violence against them. We need to alter how we approach sex work, & this must include sex workers & what they tell us is best & safest for them.

In large numbers sex workers tell us that a punitive system contributes to pushing their work into riskier and less safe spaces. Organised and unionised sex workers are camping for decriminalisation - not the Nordic model. I fundamentally believe we must respect their voice.
I’m surprised to see trade unionists advocate for legislation that doesn’t take its lead from organised Labour’s demands. We wouldn’t tell a boiler fitter they don’t understand asbestos, we shouldn’t erase sex workers from conversations about their workplace safety either.
