I think I'm obsessed with Asuka because she is literally me.
Straight A student, at the top of her game, suffocated by her perfectionism, and at the moment she's been spending her whole life preparing for— she chokes.
Mentally ill mother, absentee father. She lashes out and anything and anyone who gets in her way.
The residual damage from being hypersexualized as a child that manifests into hatred of being a cis woman is a purposeful and constant theme in eva that literally everyone over looks.
"Want to run with Mommy?"//
"I don't need a mom or a dad. I'm going to live on my own."
The dichotomy of struggling with her love for her mother & processing the abuse of her mother.

I really hate the narrative that adult men put on her where they refer to her as wanting to sleep with Kaji (weird ass projection of theirs) when it's clear that she wants casual attention but lashes out when it actually has anything to do with sex.
This is really common with girls who have been hypersexualized at a young age (like I was). A lot of them don't actually want any sexual contact at all, but want the control of the narrative about their sexuality (see also: Asuka asking Shinji to kiss but not actually caring)
The narrative of a "tease" is a really weird to put onto a 13 year old girl and this narrative exists bc these men fundamentally do not understand what is happening actually happening here. There is a reason why she gets so annoyed that Shinji actually likes her.
Also for clarification, I'm basing this idea of her being hypersexualized based off of her lines in the show about how men are pervertes, she hates them, how she seeks older men, how she rejects the affections of younger men, and how she was "the perfect golden child" and alone.
Its been like 2 years since I've seen the show because it's hurts to watch but I thought I remembered something being canon. I need to go back and rewatch it though.
