

1. Some states may join the actual case which would make them plaintiffs, they would join Texas as plaintiffs in the case
2. Some states may file Amicus Briefs which basically translates to "friend of the court"....These states would not be a party in the case but they would write to the court offering information, expertise, or insight that has a bearing on the issues in the case
3. States could also just publicly state "We support Texas in the case", without actually doing anything to help the case.
