Hang on, still mad.

What eats me is that space was made specifically for people who don't vibe with the air of seriousness that can surround otherkin discussions and spaces. Entire new words coined to accomodate.

But it isn't enough apparently?

Apparently, because otherkin aren't a marginalized group (merely a maligned one) we're not permitted to have our own spaces and structures to facilitate a community and control the further spread of misinformation and harassment campaigns against us. And I hate that a lot.
If I want to find a community who understands the core concept behind being otherkin - identifying involuntarily as something nonhuman, or from fiction if fictionkin - I basically have to subject myself to a swathe of humorless and pissy members of the community now.
Because it's that, or I'm condemned to sit amongst a bunch of 14 year olds who kin every third SU character without even the briefest attempt at introspection and figuring out why they've come to that conclusion.
I don't need or want to hear anyone's life story about their identity to acknowledge it, but I am still tired of people having 20-40 "kins" while carelessly spreading the lie that otherkin is just ANY mild connection to the creature or character in question.
Just relating to something can just be relating to it. "Hiccup is a mood" is acceptable. It doesn't need to be deeper. If it feels deeper, then there's language for you; kith, otherhearted, fictionhearted, etc. If you just WANT to ID that way, being a copinglink is a thing.
If you can't find language for what you want, you can make your own. But you're not entitled to the language of a larger, older community with its own history just because you didn't bother to look any deeper than the meme of "kinning"

Boundaries. Respect them.
I didn't endure over 10 years of internet hate, death threats and abuse for you to take the label I and others have been using to reconcile an unconventional but sincere identity and bastardize or play with it. Do your research. Your ignorance is hurting more than a few of us.
