BOTTOM LINE: Facebook is seen as an economic threat to the major of states in the U.S. So they need to be taken apart. 
"Finely targeted advertising audiences" is really the stuff that all the Snowden fanbois pretended like the NSA was gathering, only in this case, they haven't bothered caring."
