🦠COVID-19 Vaccination Thread - LOCAL UPDATE💉

We're delighted to report that the Pfizer COVID vaccine has arrived. The scale and the complexity of this vaccination programme make it one of the greatest challenges the NHS has ever faced. But we can do it!!
Each 'box' of vaccine allows for 975 doses which have to be given within 3 days of opening the box (because of specific storage temperature and shelf life issues). In order to minimise wastage, this presents a huge challenge to Primary Care to deliver across such a large region.
Whilst our first local vaccines are hoped to be delivered in hospitals the week commencing 14th December, all being well, Primary- Care roll out in the community will commence the WEEK COMMENCING 21st DECEMBER . A central site will be allocated for people to attend.
Please note WE ARE NOT AUTHORISED to vaccinate people outside the strict cohort call-up order so please don't pressurise the clinicians. Vaccination will NOT be permitted outside whichever is the currently designated cohort.
The first group to be called up will be the OVER 80yr olds. The delivery of the vaccination to care-home residents presents a unique challenge given the transportation restrictions of the vaccine vials. A protocol is currently being considered for this group.
The second cohort group won't be called up until the first group have all been offered the vaccine. Subsequent groups will be called up likewise.
We would like to thank our amazing team of nurses, health care assistants and volunteers who will be ensuring the smooth running of this massive and incredible programme. Please work with us to help ensure you get your vaccine as swiftly as possible. LETS DO THIS! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
