for the note, I'm gonna talk mainly about their relationship in pre time skip. I can't bear the angst to go past through pre-ts that much. well, maybe I will talk a bit about eremin post ts hehe.

it's been a while since I made a thread, bear with me if I made any typos. as always, I will attach the manga panels while elaborating my own interpretation.

if you're not a manga reader, please leave now. not my fault if you got spoiled, thank you.

It's pretty interesting if you see that eren somehow adapted armins answers to him that day.
armin: "I'm not losing because I'm not running away."
eren: "if we don't fight , we cant win. fight, fight."
they both fight, but in different way.

> the dreams and freedom

this was the first time armin told eren all about the outside world from armin's book. the moment eren saw the glimmer of hope in armin's eyes was the moment where eren said he felt like he wasn't free.

for me, eren saw armin's dreams as freedom.

eren saved armin when his leg got eaten was really goated shit to do. he was so insane. and his words to armin, "hey armin, you told me about it.. so I'm going to the outside world."

because of armin, he made sure to see the outside world, to see armin's dream, what---

kind of dream he had that could lit his eyes on fire. that could give armin's eyes sparks so bright that eren felt like he wasn't free. wow this outside world ought be... amazing, right?

I always adore at how passionate armin talking about his dreams. and then eren would look at him and again remember that feeling, somehow. the way eren smiled at him in the second image was so precious

from this conversation, I began to think that what if armin's dreams were not really him wishing the outside world, the ocean. but what if they were him seeing the outside world, the ocean WITH eren?

"didn't we promise we'd go to the ocean together?"

then we have this scene, where armin said all of these lines. entrusting eren with his dreams, his life and everything. then armin said, "the only thing I have to give is this." but he didn't know that eren alr saw him as the bravest one even before this. (sobbing)

but now that eren realized it.

eren's spark of hope seeing armins breathing again really broke my heart.

"you can do it!! take a deep breath again!!"

eren's whole reaction to armin's critical condition and him screaming, "It's not me or the commander whos going to save the humanity!! it's armin !!! isnt right, mikasa?"

because like I said before, he had came to realize that armin was the bravest of them all.

anyways..

yeah, the sparks in armin's eyes. the dream he always had. the eyes that made eren realized he wasnt free and seek for freedom. that alone could give eren strength as he stated here.

honorable mention where eren realized that it was armin who just "realized something again" back in rts arc. lets be real, for eren, it was always armin.

oh how tight eren hugged armin back then. the tears of relief on his face, knowing that he got his bestfriend came back to life and healthy.

ff to post time skip. I'm just gonna talk abt it a bit. how their relationship now became complicated and unfortunate.

> armin who still had faith in eren, trying to convince his friends, "there's no way, we're talking about eren here."

then boom these chapters.

conclusion is, their bond was built based on the mutual feelings, wanting to go to the outside world but they HAD different ways to look at it. armin looked at it as a dream that had to come true esp he had eren with him now, to share that dream. meanwhile eren looked at it

as freedom. freedom that he had to reach. it's really tragic tho, he thought he'd find freedom in the outside world, the other side of the ocean, but he didn't. he admitted himself.

now that the manga is ending soon, I really can't wait to see what closure that awaits them both. their talks and dreams about the outside world seems like it still hasnt ended yet.

well not so sure if eren was angry in 134 tho but it gives me the same energy bc of armin's words.

I forgot to insert the trost arc where armin woke eren up. that scene was amazing too and I wish we'd get to see similar scene for the final like I predicted in my theory thread !!

but yes, I really love them both here.
