Not that anyone will be interested (and spoiler alert - I’m not saying one is better than the other!)
Chatting to a fellow dad at the school gates today I reflected on how, for Dads, a lot of social contact is around “doing something” together, and that had changed this year 1/x

So the prior way would probably to meet for a pint and watch a game, or, at the outside, go for a bike ride together, play football, maybe run. And a lot of that is now gone, maybe temporarily 2/x
But maybe not temporarily. Men ain’t great at restarting things (cause *we’re lazy*) and especially if it’s stuff we’re now doing alone, we need to remember to do it with pals again.
Cause *spoiler* it’s bloody hard work being a Dad. 3/x

A lot of this is either internal or external pressure that says “oh, you won’t be around” or “you have to be AMAZING” and actually sometimes you’re just knackered, at least in part because of the pressure. 4/x
But also because you’ll feel that you want to be amazing, want to be around, want to give your kids and your wife/partner/girlfriend everything.
And that is pressure. 5/x

Add that to young men and their notorious awfulness about close friendships and ta-da, can you say “take care of your mental health”?
Anyway, I’m not saying this is coherent. But it is to recognise Dads everywhere (my own was and is my hero) and say 6/x

You’re all doing an amazing job.
Keep going.
If you need help, reach out and get help. There are amazing groups like @DadsRockOrg who are dealing with exactly this thing and doing it well.
But you know, you’ve got friends, and they will listen. Promise.
Anyway.
