An irony-junkie-ME teetered between snorting a gleeful guffaw over @glenngeher's account of submitting a paper for publication on ideological bias that was rejected due to ideological bias AND maddening dismay over the Absurdity his story reveals.

The reaction to a talk at his university by @JonHaidt proved revelatory. It's almost as if those who met the talk w/outrage gifted a case study in the religiosity of their ideology & its dueling claims of the Sacrosanct vs the Profane.

The findings of the study are not surprising to any who have followed the Academic Wars [a dollop of hyperbole to add some spice, doncha know]. I even hesitate to add them here lest one miss out on a well-told riveting story and a study so fine. Just view 👇 as a teaser.

. @PsychRabble recently asked a Q [replies below it gift superb ponder fodder]👉WHY Marxism gets treated w/respect despite effects. Methinks the study answers this exceedingly well & certainly better than my 2 feeble attempts. But they aren't disjunctive

Closing w/Random Janians:

Overly-sympathizing w/students, stripping agency from them, creating a sense of heightened victimhood, and prioritizing social justice over academic rigor seem detrimental to students’ emotional well-being.

In contrast, a focus on academic rigor & the tools to navigate a successful life—teaching students to tap into a sense of agency-- has EVERYTHING to do w/student well-being. IS the cohort emphasizing academic rigor & open inquiry really LESS invested in student's well being?

Perhaps the metric of students’ well-being needs changing! Needs to go beyond a facile assessment of one’s own good intentions. Beyond feel-goodism.

Cuz from where I’m sittin’, the end result is a world of hurtin’.
