what's happening
• ASIAN characters are being WHITE-WASHED by being given caucasian features
• with the option to recreate these charas how they ideally envision them, fans are equating caucasian features with beauty, reinforcing unconscious, racist societal standards of beauty

• when trying to actually make them asian, people are being forced to use dials for "asian" that draws from a smaller data pool, giving a false homogenized impression of ethnicities that have incredible diversity
why/how is this happening?
it might not be on purpose—actually i'm sure many fans did not have this intention. but it IS happening through art breeder. this is clearly just an AI-generated project but... image-based computer learning is most often INHERENTLY RACIST. why?

other popular AI-generated image projects have run into this problem, not just for asians but also for most POC. by drawing from the internet at large, these algorithms have BIASED DATA.
the majority of images and visual representation online is WHITE, a by-product of racist societal norms.
to conclude, fans on art breeder might not have this intention but the nature of the site, as an AI-generated, image-based project not necessarily meant for fandom, creates problematic confines and also enables unconscious (or conscious
