The @UNEP #EmissionsGap Report 2020 is out.

The headline: Despite those viral posts about dolphins in Venice, the pandemic did not solve our emissions problem.

There's a lot to dive into but we wanted to focus on the methane emissions data.... [1/8]
Although CO2 emissions decreased in 2020, the resulting atmospheric concentrations of major GHGs, including methane, actually increased - just as they did in 2019.

[2/8] #EmissionsGap
Methane is the second most significant GHG globally and has grown 1.2 per cent per year on average since 2010.

It grew by 1.3 per cent in 2019. [3/8]
But there is work to do all over the world - and the EU can't do it alone.

Top 6 per capita emitters for all GHGs:

2. 🇷🇺
3. 🇯🇵
4. 🇨🇳
5. 🇪🇺

No other single action can slow the rate of global warming like reducing oil and gas methane pollution.

That is why CATF has been actively campaigning for action on methane and other super pollutants since 2014.
