Delegation is key if you want to be able to scale in business.
Here’s how to do it, from someone who operates multiple companies, and assigns 100s of tasks every month…

First, let’s address why delegation doesn’t usually work out.
Spoiler: you’re doing it wrong.
Many leaders confuse delegation with blindly handing over a task to someone with no formal way of getting feedback.

This system fails, because delegation ISN’T about passing off work. This attitude will yield poor results, and waste yours AND your employees time - as well as company resources (big oof)
To delegate, or not to delegate, that is the question…
Is it urgent and important?
Can someone else do it?
Does it provide an opportunity to grow/develop another person’s skills?
Is it a recurring task?
Do I have the time to effectively delegate?

When done correctly, delegation is a win-win.
Delegating is about finding the right person; who gets it, wants it and has the capacity to do it.
GET IT: knowledge/skills relating to the task
WANT IT: can do/yes attitude
CAPACITY: bandwidth

If you can say YES to all the above, then you assign them the task (my weapon of choice is in Asana)
Define the task subject & desired outcome
Define work to be done
Define who they go to for help
Specify how to report
Define due date & flexibility
Inc. any info needed

Following the task:
Check in 24h before it’s due
Once completed, provide specific, actionable feedback & criticism if necessary.
Give praise for things done well.
