Here's a wild stat.

In the four years, Abilene Christian has been one of the most ascendant low-major programs in the country.

Their success, however, has not carried over against quality competition.

Against KenPom Tier "A" & "B" opponents, they've never broken 1.00 PPP:
2016:
@ Oklahoma (0.82)
@ New Mexico (0.92)
@ San Francisco (0.67)

2017:
@ Texas Tech (0.69)
@ SFA (0.81)

2018:
@ Texas Tech (0.74)
vs. Kentucky (0.69)

2019:
@ UNLV (0.94)
@ Texas State (0.86)
@ SMU (0.86)
@ Wichita (0.89)
@ SFA (0.87)

It's been particularly brutal versus...
Texas Tech. Interestingly, Golding was a Beard assistant at Little Rock, but his familiarity hasn't helped crack the "no-middle" defensive code. This partially stems from Abilene's offense, which annually posts the ball at a top ten rate. You just can't do that against Beard.
At some point, ACU's 46.5% 3-point shooting is going to regress, especially since they're only in the 43rd percentile in adjusted shot quality.

Tonight in Lubbock seems like an appropriate time for regression to commence.
