Comments:
-This is seen across every level including ACNP.
-The DEI work takes away from lab work and it is unfair that historically excluded groups are tasked or feel obligated to do this work while white people are able to sidestep this work

Things that have been helpful at the department level: tracking demographic and bias in seminar series, a reparation-focused seminar series, listening groups, and meetings

@ClarkNeuro solutions require people in power to reflect on their actions and the inequitable system they've created and have to seriously commit to doing the work of making change at the systemic level. This is not solved on a one-to-one basis

More discussion about exclusivity in ACNP and it's all about who you know and that influences panel selection but it's phrased as 'we picked the best science'. This is discouraging, unwelcoming, and biased process against people not in the ingroup

"There's no reason to have an all-white panel"
Lack of diversity at the panel level signals non-commitment to making real change and a myopic view of science

Discussion about ACNP instituting panel diversity rules.
