2) the experiment ran from 1932-1972. What people don’t know is that in 1947, it was discovered that penicillin can treat syphilis—however this was NOT determined in the Tuskegee experiment but by the US army and the Subcommittee on Venereal Diseases
3) They factor in all of the horrors of the Tuskegee experiment is that for 25 years participants who were apart of the study NEVER received the penicillin treatment even though is was tested and used to treat the general population.
In effect this caused the death of participants, transmission to their partners and passed down to their children through child birth.
But long story short, these 600+ participants were given placebos and mineral supplements. Ultimately leaving this STD to be untreated.
