Some takeaways from yesterday’s match:
1. The biggest +ve
The fact that Koeman brought on Riqui when we needed 3 goals shows that he knows what Riqui is capable of. The sub was a little too late but I hope Riqui starts from now.

2. 2nd half
We played much better inthe 2nd half, just lacking that finishing touch, as always. This is something that the team needs to work on, BADLY. We are playing one touch football in the opponent’s penalty box, frustrating.

Both were bang average yesterday, even Pjanic, who’s usually our best passer. Juve pressed us well and hard, and we struggled. Frenkie, so good with the Dutch NT but so inconsistent w/ us, even in his preferred role, worrying...

4. Trincao
Disappointing, given what we saw from him during the preseason. I believe he’s got the talent but he needs to work on his decision-making & positioning. Way to slow at reading plays as well, tons to work on here. He reminds me so much of Dembele’s early days.

5. Defensive errors
Have been haunting us for ages. Lenglet has been appalling this season, he deserves the bench at this point. Apart from him, collectively our defence was bloody horrific, and Alba is one of the reasons why. Dest was decent, but nerves got the better of him imo

6. What now?
It’s all up to Koeman now, the 4312 isn’t it for us. We need to move from this formation, sacrificing Riqui & Aleña just to accomodate to the 4312 is pure stupidity. Griezmann as a 9/RW leaves us with no target man/no width. There were pockets of empty spaces-

in our MF & behind our MF, making it easy for Juve to gain full control of the midfield, we couldn’t even get the ball at one point lol...
We definitely need to work on our formation defensively too. Juve held their 442 firm, leaving us w/ little space, kudos to them for that

There is massive potential in this squad and Koeman needs to find a way maximise it. And using Coutinho on the LW, benching Aleña & Riqui for the 4231 DOES NOT maximise this squad’s potential.
Time for Koeman to step up.
