'Getting downhill'
Akers continually does a nice job getting downhill & punishing oncoming defenders. Back at Florida State, this is where he shined.
Stylistically, he’s similar to a back like Chris Carson, but with a higher talent ceiling due to his physical capabilities.

This to me is why the Rams were such a great fit for Akers & his downhill skill set as a rusher.
McVay's scheme allows for clean decisions & access to Akers' strong capabilities as an accelerator.
These capabilities lead to success through contact.

What has also stuck out is Akers’s increased comfort level in space.
Strong decision-making / movement tools in the open field.
He can be a consistent weapon outside the tackles & in the short/intermediate areas as a receiver.

Where Akers has struggled now & collegiately is during high traffic situations where advanced decision-making is required.
Akers doesn’t yet possess the skillset to effectively slow down plays that require significant development.

Linear acceleration is likely the most efficient option here. Akers needs to become more consistent at knowing ‘when to do what’

There isn't a large discrepancy in talent & overall skill set between Henderson & Akers.
Ultimately, Akers has the higher talent ceiling, but Henderson is a good back with similarly positive traits.

Akers has the broader toolbox as a mover, while Henderson is the better accelerator & in-traffic decision-maker.
Expect a frustrating committee, unless injury to either.
However, both can be productive given their good to great environment.
