No unexpected pregnancy in the history of the world has ever been like the virgin Mary's.

But a great many unexpected pregnancies share in common the potential physical, emotional, social, religious, & economic crises Mary faced. We see Mary differently b/c we know the story/1
We see Mary differently b/c we've been let in on the narrative. But how would we have responded if we had been Mary's neighbors? Members of her synagogue? How do we respond *now* to women who are in crisis pregnancies. This is where the Christmas story again connects w/adoption/2
Almost half of all pregnancies are unintended. Of those, many are considered unwanted. Only 4% of women with unwanted pregnancies place their children through adoption. But what would happen if local churches became a refuge for women in crisis pregnancies and their children? /3
For those of us who call "Lord" the son of Mary's crisis pregnancy and Joseph's adoption, the question is not *whether* we should be involved in ministry to these women and their babies, but *how*. Is God calling you to open your home and family to women in crisis pregnancies? /4
To foster children? To adoption? Has God given you the resources to help fund adoption? To alleviate poverty locally? To come alongside a single mom or an adoptive family in a special way? /fin
