I get that the #CFBPlayoff system is impefect, and I can accept that due to the parity at the top, there will always be debatable decisions, that comes with the territory, but the logic being used to defend some of their choices just doesn't track. 1/9
. @IndianaFootball is the only team in the country not named Alabama with three wins against top 25 opponents. Despite that fact, it would appear that the committee is overvaluing any kind of wins in the top 6 spots and undervaluing wins of any kind below the 6th spot. 2/9
Conversely they seem to be forgiving losses to the top 10 in the top 10 spots yet Iowa State and Georgia, for reasons passing ALL human understanding, exist in the top 10 despite each having 2 losses, one of which was a blowout. 3/9
Then there's Oklahoma, who seems to be getting insane amounts of credit for their Iowa State win when they were unranked, but on the flip side of the coin, we're being told that Indiana's top 25 wins aren't worth as much because those teams aren't ranked now. 4/9
This is where reason and logic should be allowed to have its day. Those teams aren't ranked now because they lost. I've watched a lot of football games in my life, and in my opinion, that's what almost always happens. There's a winner and a loser. Were those teams overrated 5/9
when we played them? Possibly. Well, probably. Nevertheless they were ranked when we beat them. But losing to Indiana doesn't inherently mean they weren't quality opponents. Your "eye test" needs to watch our defense. Shutout at Mich St., no TDs for Wisc., leading the country 6/9
in interceptions. It's also OK to admit you may have been wrong about the perceived drop off between Penix and Tuttle. The kid can play! He took care of business against a Wisc. team that was ranked 16 when we played them, and are now unranked as a result. 7/9
Coastal Carolina beat 13th ranked BYU and the committee bumps them up 5 spots. USC beats unranked Wash. St. and the committee bumps them up 5 spots. Indiana beats 16th ranked Wisconsin and the committee...checks notes...does nothing!? 8/9
At worst @IndianaFootball should be in the 8th spot. Even that low takes some dubious logic to justify. But in any event, it's clear that the committee's "eye test" is just just a test for brand recognition. 9/9
