Pastors, may I encourage us to not use the 'we're bringing God to ______' language?

The presumption is painful and exposing.

More than a few times when I check the main, there is a mailer from an incoming church plant:

WE'RE BRINGING GOD TO THE FRONT RANGE.

1/
We are a high % unchurched area, we attract church planters in droves. MANY of them are a gift and are welcomed with open arms. We need more great church plants. The church I pastor was one of these church plants.

the issues isn't the new churches, it is the presumption.

2/
YOU'RE bringing God to Front Range?

Listen buddy, Philip and Janet Yancey moved here in the 90s. I think we can agree that God has been here at least since the 90s!

3/
The sign a person is anxious:

1. They forget God is with them.
2. They forget God is already ahead of them, existing and loving and working in the place where they are going.

4/
Here in the Front Range of Denver, we live and move and have our being under the loving and active Corum Dei.

And you are welcome to join God in what God is already doing.

5/
Leader, what pressure are you carrying today? What space are you anxious about?

It is not all on you. God is already in it, working. The space you are walking into is the presence of God.

6/
Surely God was in this place and I did not know it.

Peace of Christ to you today.
