From secondary school, we are imbibed with a "that's what I suffered when I was at that stage, so suffer it too" mentality

Seniors will flog & maltreat you for no other reason than the fact that they were flogged & maltreated too, you become a senior & continue the stupid cycle.
It's embarrassingly everywhere and IMO is one of the biggest reasons we are where we are today.

Forget government and our leaders for a minute, you'd see folks in positions to change the system for better but won't cos "they suffered it too", makes me wonder about the average
thought process of the Nigerian.

Because ideally you would think dismal experiences with something ought to stir feelings change about it esp if you really had the to effect such change but with us it seems the opposite is the case.
*Thread pause*: I see a few typos in the tweets above, please don't blame me, blame my vodka but at least you catch the drift.

*Thread continues*: So yes I wonder why the opposite is often the case here, misery loves company I know but it's deeper in this case.
'Misery loves company' at least has the party wanting "company in misery" actually in misery. But in this case we have people who have left 'misery' & are now enjoying wanting you to experience 'misery' because they experienced it...

It's witchery if you ask me.
And like I said, annoyingly it's almost everywhere & in every space; students, doctors, lawyers, civil servants, business men, entertainment, Army, Police, every damn sphere.

I really hope it ends with us.
