what did skz do and why is it so disrespectful towards persian people - a thread:

skz’s recent performance was inspired by a movie called “the 300”, this movie is about a war between the persians and greeks, but it’s not the problem, the problem is persians are portrayed as “devils, villians and cheaters”

The streotypes against iranians are so clear in the movie, they’re portrayed as “weak, decadent, oversexed, cheaters etc.” while greeks were portrayed the opposite, it is claimed in the movie that persians were incapable of winning the battle without the help of the greek traitor

This is how they portrayed Xerxes, the Acheamenid King of Iran:

not to mention it again but they portrayed persian warriors as demons and evil. Also there were no iranian actors in the movie and they used other nationalities for iranian characters. Here’s how they portrayed a persian ambassador:

the movie caused a strong reaction in iran and spread more wrong streotypes against iranian people in the world. Many critics consider it as “anti-iranian”.

This is so disrespectful to iranian people, i heard many fans started to watch the movie bc of it and it’s not a good thing since many wrong things are mentioned in the movie

out of many great movies out there i don’t feel like it was a good choice to have a performance by a movie that is this problematic
