So at Atalanta, when Gomez got subbed off at half time against Midtjylland he’s said to have gotten into a fight with Gasperini. Ilicic defended Gomez and Gasperini resigned after the game. The club didn’t accept the resignation so Gasperini is still there.
Meanwhile Gasperini feels the club should’ve defended and backed him up more. Tonight they play a crucial game against Ajax where they need one point to make it tot he elimination phase in CL. It’s said that Papu might start tonight because everyone wants the qualification.
However in the future Papu will be either benched or in the stands as long as Gasperini is the coach. As for gasp, it’s not only Papu and Ilicic who are done with him, there seems to be many players who are tired of him. Talks is that Gasperini could leave in January or July.
Otherwise they surely have to sell players. Either way, it’s difficult to see a way Atalanta makes their way out of this without somehow hurting. Gasperini is the only coach who can get as much out of the group as he’s getting. But without Papu (and Ilicic?) they’re predictable.
