Today's news that two NHS staff have already experienced severe allergic reactions during the first roll-outs of the Pfizer Covid Vaccine is deeply concerning. 1/6 https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/dec/09/pfizer-covid-vaccine-nhs-extreme-allergy-sufferers-regulators-reaction
While we support the Covid vaccination programmes, we are alarmed that lives are potentially being put at risk because of the apparent presence of unspecified food allergens within the first of the vaccines. 2/6
There also appears to be a failure to provide the necessary clear and safe guidance for those who are both receiving and administering the jab. 3/6
We urge Pfizer and the Medical Health Regulatory Authority to share the appropriate ingredients detail as a matter of urgency and explain how and why food allergens are contained within the vaccine. 4/6
There are likely to be different vaccines available over the course of the next few months, and researchers, pharmaceutical companies and regulators must work to ensure they are free wherever possible from life-threatening food allergens. 5/6
And if, for some reason, they are not from food allergens then the least we can expect is that it is explicitly said so. 6/6
